Cape Cod's natural beauty has been the backdrop for many movies over the years. Here is a short list of some of the movies that have filmed on Cape Cod:
Written by Cape Codder Casey Sherman (previously a producer I worked with at WBZ-TV) The Finest Hours (2016) filmed on the Cape this past year and should be a good one aka A Perfect Storm. This true story is about a daring Coast Guard rescue attempt off the coast of Cape Cod after two oil tankers are destroyed during a blizzard in 1952. Featuring Chris Pine and Boston actor Ben Foster.
The Light Keepers (2009) is a 1912 period piece about a lighthouse keeper sworn off women suddenly having to come to terms with two beautiful women who move into a summer cottage nearby. It features Richard, Dreyfus, Blythe Danner, Bruce Dern and local actress Julie Harris.
The Golden Boys (2008) is a romantic comedy 1905 period piece, about three older retired sea captains (Rip Torn, Bruce Dern again and David Carradine) who try to entice a lovely middle-aged woman into marriage played by Mariel Hemingway. Julie Harris is also in this one.
Summer Catch (2001) is a classic love story about a wealthy girl (Jessica Biel) spending the summer on Cape Cod who falls in love with a local boy and major league baseball player hopeful playing for the Chatham A's (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
One Crazy Summer (1986) John Cusack as an aspiring teenage cartoonist comes to the aid of a singer (Demi Moore) trying to save her family property from developers.
So during the long winter - curl up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn to watch these films to get your "Cape Fix" and then start planning your summer get away at Summer Pines Cottage for 2016~
