The next morning, the two girls went to check on their fairy house and you can imagine the excitement when they found that the fairy had visited and decorated her new house! Ribbons, seashells, starfish, different colored stones-they all adorned the little fairy house. Every morning the first thing the girls would do was to check the house and every morning there was something new.
This year, Sophie came back and the first thing she did was reconstruct the house, since it had been through "an awful winter." She worked on it the whole first day we arrived, and kept coming in the house to have me look at how it was coming telling me, "it was a work in progress."
Well, the fairy returned and brought even more things than last year! She decorated the tree with festive fish and sea horses and even made a little bed out of bright colored tissue paper. We learned from the neighbor that her name was Daisy. It was hard to leave the at the end of our week, Sophie was especially nervous about who would tend to the upkeep of the little fairy house, but the neighbor assured us she would keep an eye on it and Soph was happy to hear that more kids were coming in after us.
When her grandparents asked what her favorite part of vacation was, Sophie and even her brothers said, "checking the fairy house every morning!" Our summer vacations at Summer Pines Cottage are already some of the best memories we have, and we are even luckier to have a Cape fairy, Daisy, to add to the best of them.
